Praveen is the friendly face behind Tabla, which he opened with his wife Swarna in 2009. Raised in Southern India, he developed a love for fresh, home-cooked food using simple, honest ingredients. After training at luxury hotels including Turnberry and Gleneagles, he followed his dream of sharing authentic Indian flavours in Scotland.

Praveen now grows vegetables in Perthshire, works closely with local farmers, and ensures every dish is fresh and full of flavour. Tabla became the first Indian restaurant in Scotland to win an AA Rosette.

Alongside the restaurant, he runs Kumar’s Curry Club, supplying ready-to-enjoy Indian meals across the UK, and his dishes are stocked in supermarkets. His awards include World Cuisine Chef of the Year and Outstanding Curry of the Year.

Through his Indian Cook School, he loves teaching others the secrets of Indian cooking. Passionate, welcoming, and authentic, Praveen’s greatest joy is seeing people happy around food.
